Front cover draft
So first of all I placed my masthead at the top of the page as it is the thing that attracts most people towards a magazine.
Next I placed the main image in the middle of the page so that it stands out more and placed the main cover line right underneath so that if the masthead or the image doesn’t attract the audience then the main cover line will.
The barcode is placed in the bottom of the page as it isn’t that important to the reader as it would decide if they buy the magazine. Also the price and date are at the top of the page in small print so that it doesn’t detract the reader from buying the magazine.
The last thing on the front cover is another image of a story that will feature within my magazine but this is smaller than the main image as I don’t want it to overpower the reader with too much information at once.
Contents page draft
Contents page draft
So first of all on my contents page is the masthead at the top as it will attract the reader like it does on the front cover.
Secondly I placed two images and a cover line on the right hand side to describe what each image is about but to also it gives contextual information on what to expect of the magazine and what is in the magazine.
Next I placed the page numbers and story headings on the left hand side of the page so that if the reader is flicking through the magazine to see what is in the magazine.
Lastly I place any adverts or vouchers in the bottom left hand corner as these may not be of any relevance to the reader but are important because if they are relevant to the reader they may tempt the audience to continuously buy the magazine.

Kayne, you have produced your preliminary task flat plans, the next stage is to produce the actual college magazine for the preliminary task.
